Jehovah's Witnesses
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Adam
"According to reliable Bible chronology Adam was created in the year 4026 B.C.E.,
likely in the autumn of the year, at the end of the sixth day of creation."
(April 1, 1968, Watchtower) Gen.1:27
Apostates
An ex-JW is an apostate, and no one is more despised and feared by the GB. JWs
are not allowed to speak to them under pain of disfellowshipping. Apostates will
meet a horrible end at Armageddon, much worse than that reserved for regular
nonJWs. To justify their hatred toward their former members, the NWT uses the
word "apostate" wherever other translations have "hypocrite". Thus, they can
claim that the bible says the following about exJWs:
- "Before him [Jehovah] no apostate will come in."
Job 13:16
- They have no hope; Jehovah has abandoned them,
destroyed their souls, and ignores their prayers. Job 27:8-9
- Jehovah has condemned them to live and die among
the male prostitutes. Job 36:13-14
- They mock Jehovah and grind their teeth against
him. Ps.35:16
- By their mouths they bring their others to ruin.
Pr.11:9
- Jehovah will show no mercy to apostates or to
their fatherless children. Is.9:17
- They do "what is hurtful" and "speak against
Jehovah." Is.32:6
- They are fearful sinners. Is.33:14
- They will be put to shame for "apostatizing from"
Jehovah. (KJV says "all that forsake thee shall be ashamed.") Jer.17:13
- Are hopeless and will never repent. Heb.6:4
Armageddon
- "According to reliable Bible chronology Adam was
created in the year 4026 B.C.E., likely in the autumn of the year, at the
end of the sixth day of creation." (April 1, 1968, Watchtower) This was the
basis of the failed 1975 prophecy: that Armageddon would occur in 1975, 6000
years after Adam's creation. Gen.1:27
- "I saw also an angel standing in the sun, and he
cried out with a loud voice and said to all the birds that fly in midheaven:
'Come here, be gathered together to the treat evening meal of God, that you
may eat the fleshy parts of kings and the fleshy parts of military
commanders and the fleshy parts of strong men and the fleshy parts of horses
and those seated upon them, and the fleshy parts of all, of free men as well
as of slaves and and of small ones and great." Rev.19:17-18
- Armageddon will occur "[b]efore the last members
of the generation that was alive in 1914 will have passed off the scene ...
including the 'great tribulation' in which the present wicked world will
end." Mt.24:34 (This prophecy was abandoned by the GB in 1995; the latest of
a long string of false prophecies that were later retracted as "new light"
came in.)
- Jehovah will spare the children of JWs at
Armageddon. 1 Cor.7:14
- But the children of all nonJWs will be killed.
Num.16:27, 32, Ezek.9:6
- It's OK for Jehovah to kill all nonJWs at
Armageddon. Mt.24:37-39, Lk.18:7-8, 2 Th.1:6
- Jehovah will mercilessly slaughter all nonJWs at
Armageddon. 2 Th.1:8
Birthdays
- Not to be celebrated since Pharoah and Herod did.
Gen.40:20-22, Mt.14:6-10
Blood Transfusions (eating blood)
- God forbids eating meat without first draining the
blood. Many JWs have needlessly died because the governing body considers
blood transfusions to be "eating blood." Of course, their view on this has
recently changed to allow some use of blood. But the governing body is
careful not to explain its new, complicated rules on blood to its followers.
Gen.9:3-4; Lev.17:10, 13-16; Acts 15:19-20, 28-29
Child Molestors (are hidden unless there are two or
three witnesses)
- Dt.17:6, 19:15; Mt.18:16, 2 Cor.13:1, 1 Tim.5:19,
Heb.10:28
Creation
- The JW book "Let God Be True" (1946) says that
each of the seven days of creation was 7,000 years long. And that since Adam
was "created toward the close of the sixth day, he was put on earth toward
the end of 42,000 years of earth's preparation." (p. 155) So there you go;
the universe was created 48,026 years ago. Gen.1:3
- "According to reliable Bible chronology Adam was
created in the year 4026 B.C.E., likely in the autumn of the year, at the
end of the sixth day of creation." (April 1, 1968, Watchtower) Gen.1:27
Cross vs. torture stake
The governing body of the Jehovah's Witnesses insist that
Jesus died on a "torture stake", not on a cross. Watchtower publications often
show this with Jesus nailed to a vertical stake, with his hands over his head
and a single nail passing through his wrists. But if he was executed on a
torture stake, then why did Thomas say "unless I see in his hands the print of
the nailS...."? Jn.20:25
Disfellowshipping (shunning)
- Avoid all contact with Apostates and don't read
their literature. (Reasoning p.36) 2 Jn.9-10, Rom.16:17-18
- Don't even consider the thoughts of those that
disagree with the GB (Reasoning p.36) Pr.11:9
- "By his mouth the one who is an apostate brings
his fellowman to ruin." Pr.11:9
- "The senseless one himself will speak mere
senselessness, and his very heart will work at what is hurtful, to work
apostasy and to speak against Jehovah...." Is.32:6
- Don't associate with nonchristians. Don't receive
them into your house or even exchange greeting with them. This is the
biblical justification for "Disfellowshipping" among the Jehovah's
Witnesses. 2 John 10
The earth will last forever
- Yet a little while and the wicked (nonJWs) shall
not be. The meek (JWs) shall inherit the earth. 37:10-11
- "The righteous themselves will possess the earth,
and they well reside forever upon it." Ps.37:29
- Ec.1:4
- "to bring to ruin those ruining the earth."
Rev.11:18
Flag salute
- The governing body views saluting the flag as a
form of idol worship. Ex.20:3-5
Holidays
- "And quit sharing with [them] in the unfruitful
works that belong to the darkness, but, rather even be reproving [them]."
Eph.5:11
- Keep away from unbelievers. Neither marry nor be
friends with them. To JWs, everything outside of the Watchtower Organization
is controlled by Satan. The Governing Body uses theses verses to condemn all
holidays, civic activities, and association with non-JWs. 2 Cor.6:14-17
Holy Spirit
JWs deny that the Holy Spirit is a person. Why then would he he:
- be referred to as "he" or "him". Jn.15:26, 16:7-8,
13-14
- bear witness Jn.15:26
- be blasphemed against Mk.3:29
- say things 10:19, 21:11, Rev.2:7
- comfort Acts 9:31
- be lied to Acts 5:4
- speak and refer to itself (himself?) as "I". 13:2
Homosexuality
- Dt.23:1 "Evidently, therefore, it had to do with
deliberate emasculation for immoral purposes, such as homosexuality. Such a
one was to be kept out of the congregation, not being allowed to associate
with it, thereby protecting its purity." Insight p.1088
Immortality of the soul
The governing body teaches that the human soul is not
immortal, that the soul and body are one, and that death is final.
- Rachel's soul departed from her body. But how can
a soul leave a body if, as the governing body of the JWs teaches, the soul
is the body? Gen.35:18
Jesus (aka Michael the Archangel)
Lying
- Abraham asks Sarah to lie for him. Gen.12:13 and
20:2 (And Isaac does the same with Rebekah in Gen.26:7)
The governing body uses these little fibs as examples for JWs. Lying is OK
if the lying is directed towards "nowworshipers of Jehovah" (Insight on
the Scriptures, p.245). This is called the Theocratic War Strategy.
1914
Deriving 1914 from the bible
- The "times of the Gentiles" in Lk.21:24 begin with
the fall of Jerusalem to Nebuchadnezzar in 607 BCE.
- The "seven times" of Dan.4:16, 23 tell us how long
the gentile times will last.
- Rev.12:6 and Dan.12:7 mention "a time, times, and
a half time" and Rev.12:14 says this is equal to 1260 days. So 7 times is
2520 days. (See also Rev.11:2-3 where 42 months is reckoned as 1260 days)
- Applying the year-day principle of Num.14:34 and
Ezek.4:6, the Gentile times end 2520 years after 607 BCE, which is 1914.
That is the year that Jesus returned and set up his kingdom, which is now
being run by the governing body. Dan.7:13-14
In 1 Cor.11:26, Paul said: "For as often as you eat
this loaf and drink this cup, you keep proclaiming the death of the Lord, until
he arrives." (NWT). If Christ arrived in 1914, as the governing body teaches,
then why do Jehovah's Witnesses continue to partake of the bread and wine?
Shouldn't they have stopped in 1914?
1975
How was the 1975 prophecy derived from the bible?
- Rev.20:6-7 says that the millennium will be a 1000
year reign with Christ.
- Since Ps.90:4 and 2 Pt.3:8 say that a day with the
Lord is 1000 years, the millennium will be Jehovah's 1000 year day of rest
after the creation.
- Hmm... If so, then this Sabbath day must have been
preceded by six 1000 year days since the creation of Adam and Eve at the end
of the sixth day creative day. (We are now in the last "day" of the seventh
day of creation. It's a 1000-year day within a day kind of thing.) Gen.1:27
- Since the last creative day will last 7000 years,
the other creative days must have also been periods of 7000 years. So from
the beginning of the first creative day to the creation of Adam and Eve was
42,000 years. And since "reliable Bible chronology" establishes 4026 BCE as
the date of Adam's creation, we know that the first day of creation occurred
48,026 years ago. (And Armageddon and the millennium are 26 years overdue.)
- Jehovah ends his sixth day of creation by
fashioning Eve from Adam's rib. The seventh day of creation began in 4026
BCE and will last 7,000 years. Armageddon will occur in "the autumn of 1975,
fully 6000 years into God's seventh day, his rest day." (April 1, 1968,
Watchtower) Gen.2:22
Jesus' Second coming (This happened in 1914 and was
witnessed by no one.)
- A little longer and the world will hehold me no
more." Jn.14:19
- 1 Tim.6:16
Theocratic War Strategy (Lying)
- Abraham asks Sarah to lie for him. Gen.12:13 and
20:2 (And Isaac does the same with Rebekah in Gen.26:7)
The governing body uses these little fibs as examples for JWs. Lying is OK
if the lying is directed towards "nowworshipers of Jehovah" (Insight on
the Scriptures, p.245). This is called the Theocratic War Strategy.
The United Nations
- To the Watchtower, the United Nations is "the
beast that was, and is not, and yet is" of Rev.17:8 as well as "the
disgusting thing" of Dan.11:31. (See Pay Attention to Daniel's Prophecy,
p. 269) This is an interesting point of view from an organization that was,
until recently, an active and fully recognized Non-governmental Organization
in the UN.
