This essay is written in defense of all agnostics and atheists for our belief. Every
day we are considered fools as depicted in the Bible, The Quran, and the books in
the Jewish faith. We are discriminated against in many areas of life Politically and
Socially. Predominately by the religious right, but by anyone that even has the
slightest notion of belief in a supreme being. We are called everything from a fool,
amoral, and/or actual Satanists. And it is about time that some people become
enlightened about who we are, and why.

I have become increasingly disgusted with the Republican agenda of attempting to
inject religion into politics, forcing religion upon the children of this country
against the parent's wishes, and trying to completely undo the scientific progress
that mankind has made over the past few centuries by attempting to force intelligent
design as a pseudo science into the public school curriculum. 

Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell, the voices of Christianity over the Television
Airwaves on the 700 club. Attributes the natural disasters of the world to the
atheists, agnostics, and homosexuals. Claiming that God is punishing man for these
perceived evils. Despite the fact that these things that are happening are happening
in predominately religious portions of the country. Atheism and Agnosticism is
strongest in the US in the one area that is not being affected by Hurricanes,
Tornados, Flooding, Tsunamis and major storms. 

They also claim that the crime epidemic, Criminal Drug Use, Violent Crime increase
and so forth is due to Atheists and Agnostics. Despite the fact that The US
population of Atheists is somewhere around 15% and the population of Atheists in
prison or jail is just at 1%. That means that 99% of inmates are theists. And 85% of
America are theists. This should completely vindicate the atheist of being the cause
for moral decline in America. However it is not seen that way by the religious
right.

Automatically these idiots are given credence because they are supposedly speaking
for god, when they have no clue as to what they are talking about. They are not
using statistical or demographic data, they are going by scriptural doctrine, and
looking no further. Blaming the worlds social ills on us, and coming up with a
solution that everyone should know will not work, given the historical track record
of religion having any say in governmental affairs. 

Can we say "Dark Ages Part II?"

Now we have a complete idiot in office that advocates the rearrangement of
scientific process to have Religious Ideology as the reason for everything, then
find the answers to what we seek from there. This would essentially halt the
scientific process.

In the coming pages, I will cover some main areas of contention that will defend our
position, so that the religiously devout can see why we doubt, and have major
difficulty believing in a deity. But do not construe this as hating god. We are
versions of Atheists, meaning that we are without belief in supernatural deities. We
just have the logic and evidence on our side to defend ourselves. Yes we are
arrogant in this perspective, just like the religiously devout can be. What the
theist does not understand is that though we deny the existence of god, we also deny
the existence of the devil. Evil is not a being, it is in part of Mankind. These
people are bad people, but that does not mean that we should be associated with them
in any way. 

Examination of the religious scriptures of all Abraham based religions, shows major
impossibilities of a god using the very same scripture that Judaism, Christianity,
and Islam all claim is the basis of Morality in the world. A message from this god
himself, the Ten Commandments. 

Looking at the commandments we see that the first Three are Just specific to the
worship and supposed validity of the god, lets focus on the ones that are directly
related to mankind. 

Exodus 20:12 "Honour thy father and thy mother."

Exodus 20:13 "Thou Shalt Not Kill".

Exodus 20:14 "Thou shalt not commit adultery".

Exodus 20:15 "Thou shalt not steal".

Exodus 20:16 "Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour"

Exodus 20:17 "Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy
neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass,
nor any thing that is thy neighbour's"

Lets pick three out of here to scrutinize. The three that we know is a major
problem, and that they really are the most harmful things without dispute. Killing,
Stealing, and Lying. 

Killing, that is a bad thing. We can all agree that Killing is a bad thing. But wait
just a second. 

Exodus 32:27 says "Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, Put every man his sword by his
side ... and slay every man his brother, and every man his companion, and every man
his neighbor."

Ok, theologians say that it was misinterpreted to say this, and it was meant to say
Murder. So lets look for just a second for a clearer definition in 1st Samel

1 Samuel 15:2-3 "Thus saith the Lord of hosts ... go and smite Amalek, and utterly
destroy all that they have, and spare him not; but slay both man and woman, infant
and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass. 

Not too sure about you folks, but even entertaining the idea of killing infants and
nursing children is pretty much defining the Murder theme, so the idea of murder
being different than killing was not considered when this commandment was made.
Killing is a bad thing, no matter who you are or what you do. If you kill, and meant
to do it, and were not in danger at the time, then you are evil, plain and simple.
This commandment is rendered moot soon after the rule was made, so I think we have a
problem here guys.

So lets go on to number 2, stealing. Yeah, that is bad too. We can all agree on
that, it is bad to steal. Oh No, hold it again, we have a problem:

Exodus 12:35-36 "And the children of Israel did according to the word of Moses; and
they borrowed of the Egyptians ... and they spoiled the Egyptians"

Ok so Theologians will say that this came out before the ten commandments so lets
look after in the book of Ezekiel. 

Ezekiel 39:10 "They shall spoil those that spoiled them, and rob those that robben
them, saith the Lord God. "

So, I guess stealing is something that was also seen as something that was seen as
relative as well.

Okay, lets look at the third of our examples, Lying. Lying is bad, it causes all
sorts of problems. Yep, it is a bad thing too. Oops, I guess we have to take pause
again. 

Exodus 1:18-20 "And the king of Egypt called for the midwives, and said unto them,
Why have ye done this thing, and have saved the men-children alive? And the midwives
said unto Pharaoh, Because the Hebrew women are not as the Egyptian women; for they
are lively, and are delivered ere the midwives come in unto them. Therefore God
dealt well with the midwives. "

Amazing, God actually rewarded the midwives for lying. What is going on here? 

Scriptural apologists claim that the bible is just a historical account of things,
and the God did not condone the lying. Well then, why is it that God rewarded the
midwives? Why did God himself order the killing of people, why did God himself order
us to steal? 

This is called logical deduction here kids. The reason that we doubt this, is
because the bible has major contradictions that cannot be explained away as mere
coincidence since the sheer number of them provide a pretty consistent flow of
questions that are always sure to follow. If this is supposed to be God's commands
to Mankind, then why are we always confused as to what he said? He used the language
that supposedly was being used worldwide at the time, and Moses seemed like a
reasonably intelligent guy. How on earth could he have gotten everything all messed
up?

The scriptures themselves give conflicting information. Not only among the different
books within the bible, but as I have pointed out, within the exact same books
themselves. Not different version of the bible, but the exact same version. This
occurs in all biblical versions. 

What I am trying to say is, that scriptural based morals are clearly ambiguous. In
the command to not commit these acts of sin, the same acts are performed, and either
ordered by, or rewarded for by the same deity that ordered them not to committed in
the first place. This opens pandora's box, and the scripture can be interpreted for
either position's favor. This brings me to the subject of religion being used as an
excuse for committing acts against mankind in the next subject.

Religion has been at the base of some pretty major conflicts in the world. From the
9 major crusade wars, the ten smaller ones, the Inquisitions that spread across
Europe (including the Spanish Inquisition) and even the Catholic/Protestant
conflicts in No. Ireland. 

In a religious conflict, there is a problem. Both sides can claim divine
justification and can even quote from their scriptures their positions, and even
justify the atrocities committed as being holy, or morally just. 

Persecutions, unlawful detainments, destruction of unimaginable scales, and millions
of lives lost. Everyone on both sides believed that they are morally justified, they
can both quote from their scripture to prove their points. Many if not most can
quote from the exact same texts as their enemy was doing. All claiming
righteousness, both claiming divine justification, all in the name of God. 

The Atheist position is pretty simple from an outside point of view. If both can
claim divine right, and can prove it with their scripture, both cannot be correct at
the same time, but they both can be wrong. the most likely answer to that question
is the latter. We have watched the conflicts from the sidelines for centuries. We
can see the death tolls, Burning at the stakes, entire villages burned to the
ground, destruction of sacred lands, and churches. Each side calling the other
"Evil". 

The attributes afforded this deity are pretty much all encompassing. we will list
them here:

Omnipotent (all powerful)

Omniscient (all knowing)

Omnipresent 

Omni benevolent (all kind, and good. This coming from the word holy as described all
over scripture)

These attributes when combined with the scriptures have a few problems that are
brought up by many atheists.

A. If evil exists, and God created it, then how could he be Omni benevolent?

If Evil exists, and God did not create it, then how can he be Omnibenevolent?

If Evil exists, and God did not realize that it was a by product of creation, then
how can he be Omniscient?

If God is Omnibenevolent, then why did he put the tree of knowledge within man's reach?

If God expected man to not eat of the tree, then how could he be Omniscient?

If God had to find out after the fact when Adam and Eve ate from the tree, how could
he be Omnipresent?

If God created all things, then if the serpent was in the garden to temp man, then
how could he be Omnibenevolent?

Additionally, we have the reasons for everything spelled out to us in the
testaments. The idea of Predeterminism. But this is diametrically opposed to the
concept of free will. How can man have free will, if our paths in life are
pre-destined? Why is man being punished for Adam's sin, if it is exactly what God
willed in the first place? Why does the New testament say that we are all to be
judged if we did what God wanted in the first place? 

These are simple logic questions that Apologists have come up with the most
ludicrous answers to attempt to explain. A Little give here, a little push there. If
this God is Omni anything, then there is no give. The scriptures are specific to say
that God has a mind that does not change. There is no such thing as maybe with this
deity. It is or it isn't period. No compromise, no dealing, no letting up, nothing. 

So with the evil in this God's name, the scriptural inconsistencies, the conflicting
viewpoints, and the logical impossibilities, how could the rational thinking person
not question the very concept of this establishment? 

Atheists and Agnostics have studied scripture, not cherry picked it to find things
to our liking like the religions of the world have done to attempt to maintain a
grip on their followers. Atheists are not in the business of controlling people, but
the very idea of religion actually means to restrain society. Religion is the
embodiment of control by manipulation of people, and what better way to manipulate
people but through their thoughts and minds? 

The recent attempt by the religious right to introduce intelligent design into our
public school system is the very same thing, to attempt to gain control of our
impressionable young's minds. 

Intelligent design is not even laughably a science. It is clearly an answer looking
for a reason. The whole idea of it is ludicrous. It is an attempt to undermine the
science that has brought mankind to a better understanding of the world, and it's
surroundings. Biology is based on the fundamentals of evolution. Evolution has the
proof that Intelligent design claims it does not have. Look it up, read it,
understand it. You will see what I am talking about. Most of the world understands
it, and we can and have used it to fight the extinction of humanity. We have
essentially put a stop to the order of nature, and manipulated our environment to
suit us. We have made changes to our own bodies to combat illness and disease. If
evolution was in fact wrong, then how can we make an annual vaccine to combat flu?
It changes every year. 

Religion is brainwashing. Once you have the mind, you have the rest by default.
Religion knows this, and that is why they are trying so hard to regain control.
Without the masses that blindly follow them like lemmings following the others over
a cliff, they are powerless. Now tell me, who wants to give up power? No one,
exactly my point. 

As the reader can see, we are just seeing things that are simple, and basic. We can
see that the world around us has a certain order of things. We can also easily see
that man has been corrupted by religion, and the clerics that claim righteousness in
it's name. The reader can also see that we can systematically dismantle religion in
one short essay. AT ANY TIME. No incantations to call upon the devil, and no mumbo
jumbo that no one on earth can understand.

We choose not to, since we are not in the business of deciding anyone's fate in
their supposed afterlife. We are also not in the business of controlling people
through brainwashing. You will see that we do not organize and ask for money from
followers to further our agenda. We may ask others of like mind to help us in causes
for freedom from religious tyranny, by appointing a lobbyist for our particular
minority, but you will never see us looking for Satan, since we do not worship him.
In fact we worship nothing other than the sanctity of life. Life on this planet as
we know it. What we can verify, and what we know without a doubt is real. We quest
for the truth, and do not inhibit others from searching for it themselves. 

Atheism is not a religion. It is not Satanism, we are not fools, we do not want to
have followers. We just want peace. Everyone to just leave us alone. You can have
your religion all you want, chant to your heart's desire. Pray to your God all you
want. Just don't expect us to

want to be with your cults. Do not push it on our children. Stay out of our
government's business. Do not control us. 

I know that this is a hard thing for you folks to do, since you feel it is your
purpose in life to try to make the world better. But trust me, this is not going to
work. It didn't in the past, and it will not now. Religion MUST stay OUT of
government period. 

This is just an honest answer.

   I am an avid christian woman. I wanted to write and tell you what  a wonderful
web site you have put together.  The way the world is  going today makes me very
angry.  I am a 63 year old woman.   I live in a very small town called Coleman
Alabama.  i feel like i  cant even turn my tv on for fear of seeing some form of
blasphemy  rolling out of the mouth of some polotic or new age religion preachers
 mouth.  it was so refreshing to find a site that expresses the  same concerns
and ideals as myself.  i try to be a good christian  woman everyday but i feel

cleaner for our neighbors, the Coopers when i was a  child,  but my daddy came

poor.  I married really young.   When i was 15.   I always went to church but it

change the font color of a few pages.  Red, in

to go against the Bible." Am I wrong in assuming that you are referencing the
American system you praised just a few pages back? (And again, not that it matters,
but "who's" should be "whose". One is a contraction of "who" and "is", while the

Christian dogma contradicts itself and subverts it's own message of love. 
Way to go! You're doing a great job helping people to realize that

Thanks for making a very eye-opening statement on extremist Christianity. I
haven't met many people who believe many of the things that you describe on
your website, but I have to admit that there are many people who, like you
do in your satire, take Bible passages out of context and fail to realize
that the Mosaic covenant of the Old Testament has been replaced with a new
covenant inaugurated by Jesus Christ. What's even more ironic is the number
of supposed Christians who respond to your website in very non-Christian
ways, which I think is more appalling than any of the satire that you have
created. I may disagree with your attempts to make this site so
controversial, but I do think that an essential part of your attempts is
correct: we Christians tend to contort many passages of the Bible to suit
our own ends. I agree with you that it's high time Christians start
revamping their theological understandings of the Bible so that they are
more in line with the will of the Holy Spirit. Of course, there are many
great intellectuals already at work, trying to make Christianity speak more
to the true principles of Jesus. These theologians base their work on Jesus'
greatest commandments:

Mark 12:29-31
The first is, "Hear, O Israel: the Lord our God, the Lord is one; 30you
shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul,
and with all your mind, and with all your strength." 31The second is this,
"You shall love your neighbour as yourself." There is no other commandment
greater than these.'

First of all, you claim that "...God ruled the entire universe from a

The Pleiades star cluster is not the big dipper. One is  a cluster of stars 
and one is a constellation, although they look slightly similar, albeit are 
different sizes.
Also, you claim that humans came from a pile of dirt, whearas you call 
Evolutionalists insane for beliveing "we evolved from a rock" (Which isn't 
what they belive anyway, but that's beside the point). I'd like to point out 
that dirt isn't much more than a pile of ground-up rock.
You say that  "Scientists...say light travels a certain speed, some number 
they pulled out of there asses like 300,000 Miles Per Hour." Light travels 
at approximately 655200000 miles per hour, or about 300,000 Kilometres per 
second.

in regards to your "Goth" page...

I will ATTEMPT to keep this short because you may have heard this before... and
there is no sense in me wasting my time... but we'll see :)

First off... I suggest you do some research. 

The useage of the word "Goth" can be traced back to 3rd or 4th centuries A.D. by a
germanic tribe.The Goths made their first stand against the Roman Empire in 238 AD,
when they invaded Rome across the Danube. Christianity spread among the Goths around
the 300s and abandoned their barbaric ways and the tribe was then a heavily
Christian tribe.

What most people now call Goths are quite different than that useage of the word.
They are typically intrested in dark artistic things... including art and music...

The Goth rock movement sprung from the 70s and early 80s punk movement. The term
"goth" became used instead of "Post punk" or "Positive punk"
In the early 80s the Contemporary Christian music movement began to explore a bit.
Bands such as stryper appeared... It is kind of sad to me the way some people are
intolerant of bands such as this who threw BIBLES into the audience instead of
guitar picks and such. :) A band by the name of Saviour Machine released a demo in
1990 they have released many albums since then (their last will be 7/7/07) their
lyrics are basically from the bible from what I have heard by them.

As for these characteristics of yours...

They may apply to some 'goths' as the culture is very individualised and there are
many that are not Christian... BUT you can not stereotype these people and be
completely correct for every one.

This is not hate mail. Only wondering why in your "F.A.Q" section you mention
talking to atheists with hate and anger? The only time my Lord got truly angry was
towards the money changers selling in his fathers house. The Bible says "Speaking
the truth in love". He didn't even get angry at the romans as they were nailing his
hands and feet to the cross. "Forgive them Father, for they know not what they do".
I have been a Christian since I was 9 and I have learned a lot about reaching
people, and we can't possibly hope to reach the heart of anyone if we speak to them

I do have to say though is that the label hypocrite, as usual to your

Science is the religion of Satan? Wait, I thought God created the world,
therefore, he created science. Science is simply a way to understand the
world which surrounds us in a logical way rather than rely on superstition.
Superstition IS what the Christian religion is. Heck, Christianity couldn't
even get your own holidays. They were all stolen from either secular beliefs
or what you refer to as Pagan religions, which I might add predate your own
religion. By the way, if you take the bible as literal truth, I expect that
you don’t ever eat shellfish? I could go further, but I think you see where
I am going with this.

 

If you really want the word of God, go back to school and learn Latin and
Hebrew. Anything translated is PLAIN WRONG. Almost everything taught in the
modern church is wrong.  People like you are the reason I left churches and
became secular humanist. Christianity is supposed to be a religion of love,
however people like you make it look more like Muslim extremism and people
like you teach a doctrine of hate. The only person whom I respected that
quoted the bible was a person who learned the bible in Hebrew and Latin.
Ironically, he would disagree with much of what your website teaches. He
would however ask you to question everything. Read several versions of the
bible, especially ones based on pre-King James. The best would be, as I
said, the original texts. I encourage you to find what is right with the
world, rather than what is wrong. I’m asking you to change before you become
like the Westboro Baptists.
