Regarding The Earth ISN'T Round
First of all, I would like to say that I stayed open minded through your whole essay. I found it very interesting, and also well thought out. Your belief in the Bible seems to be very solid, and that should never be changed by any advancements in science.
I am going to take a stand that has been used in the days of Roman times by many scientists being accused by the religion of being heretics. The Bible never lies, but it is often interpreted incorrectly. Sometimes you just need to think of it another way, and sometimes the translation from Hebrew to English was incorrect, as the Hebrew language has no vowels, and words are easily incorrectly translated, as well as the bias of the interpretor. This is why Judaism revolves around reading the Hebrew bible straight as it was written, not as a translation.
Now, I am an agnostic, but I do believe in the Bible. I have read most of it, and I can make compromises between the laws of science and the Word of God.
Starting out with your first sentance, "Since the dawn of time, man has always known the Earth was flat," you are completely correct. The dawn of time, as stated by a later part of your essay, was around 6,000 years ago, correct? 6,000 years ago, there was no space travel. 6,000 years ago, there was no sense of modern physics, and nobody had traveled the world to even try to figure out what shape the earth took.
I first want to start out with something my son has told me, which I found very interesting. He learned this at school, "if you were to go back in time and find an egyptian who believed that the earth was flat, you could prove him wrong simply by bringing him to the ocean. Should you sail a boat directly forward on a FLAT world, you could see it forever with increased magnification on a telescope. You see boats dissapear starting with the bottom hull, until eventually you can only see the flag and mast, which dissapear after that. If the earth were flat, would you not see the hull dissapear last, as it is the largest? Why the mast?"
That was a long quote, I know, but it does have reason.

Next, you state that the Earth is the center of the universe. I would just like to wonder, have YOU been to space to prove this? Were YOU there when the Universe was created? The Bible states that the Earth was created in seven days. Days are simply the Earth rotating on its axis, or as you believe the sun moving around the earth. What would cause the sun to move around the earth, if not an orbit? The gravitational pull of any object is to pull to the center of a SPHERE. This is why everything in the universe is round. A flat earth would pull its molecules closer and closer together until it was round. Nothing would be able to orbit it unless it was round. In fact, should it not be round, it would have no gravitational pull. You would float off into space. Also, was it not orbiting the sun, then wouldn't the sun and the earth collide? Everything made of matter is attracted to other matter through electromagnetic pulls. You speak of gravity holding you down to the earth, would it not pull the sun down with it? The earth is right now in an orbit around the sun, a freefall. It is pulled towards the sun, but the orbit swings it around the "back" of it, and like a slingshot shoots it back out farther away from the sun. The sun is made of fusing matter, not pure light. Light is energy, and energy cannot be created without a checmical or physical reaction. Two hydrogen atoms fusing together in the sun will create a fusion reaction, as demonstrated by today's nuclear physiscists. They are pulled together my the immense gravity of the sun.
Also, from 4:10-11, an immense tree is stated. In the days when the Bible was written, man had not explored the whole earth, only a small part of it. A tree tall enough for all man to see would have to be very tall, but it still is very possible judging by the area of Earth that man had explored.
Now, I would just like to question one little part of your logic. What is gravity? If you get a chance to, could you email me back and explain what you think it is?
Venturing to the top of a mountain, as shown in Matthew 4:8, and seeing all of the Earth's kingdoms, would make sense. Like I stated before, man had not ventured all of the Earth, only a little of it in Mideast Asia and some Europe. The kingdoms created by man would all be able to be seen.

Same principle. All humans on earth would be able to see him, as he was centered on one hemisphere.

Now looking at your model... I also am not a very good artist, if i drew something on the computer or even by hand it would turn out to be a few scribbles and circles, but I still understand your point.
If the earth was flat, and didn't tilt on its axis, can you explain seasons? Also, if you can see ANYTHING from a point on the earth, would you not be able to see the sun and moon all day? Also, the earth would collide with the sun if it has the same gravitational pull as you state.

As for the earth being 6,000 years old, would you explain to me what a year is in your definition? I believe it is a complete orbiting around the sun... But ah yes, the Earth DOESN'T orbit around the sun, does it?!


Also, at the bottom of the page, you said "I am sitting in a chair with wheels, so wouldn't I roll down the slope of the Earth?" or something like that..

Let me explain. Gravity is centered into the middle or core of all things round, and thusly wherever you stand on the earth, you will be pulled towards the center, not towards the south pole. Also, there is no "up" and "down" to Earth, only North, South, East, and West used by navigators to simplify things. It is made up, just as time is. They are just used to put things into perspective.

That photo pasted at the bottom is not a photo made in photoshop, it was really taken. The MADE IN PHOTOSHOP was put on by YOU. And hey, even if it was, are you saying that your pictures are real photographs?

I think that you have been reading the wrong bible
over the past years. I came across your web page,
looking for a Christian view against Disney show, The

"God wants them all dead" and "His duty of love to
send them to Hell" is located, I would love to hear

Christians are supposed to love everyone and not
condemn anyone, for we ourselves are not perfect, just
forgiven. God could condemn all mankind at any time
if He chose to, but He is so loving that He allowed
His Son Jesus to come to the earth and to die for all
mankind so that we might one day avoid the pits of
Hell and live forever in Heaven with God and Jesus and
the Holy Spirit.

Hello, I am a Catholic since birth, and I was cleansed of my sins at birth too, and I feel myself still a good Christian. Is not Catholic, Methodist, Baptist, and other religions of this kind, based on one big Christian belief. The Catholic Church just chooses to express their believes differently, and so do every other religion. Are you not calling large "Christian" churches, like Fellowship in Grapevine, that sell their church front to companies like Starbucks and McDonalds' satanic? I am not saying that I am perfect, and you seem to saying that quite a bit, all I am saying is that why can’t you just open your eyes that have been tainted by racism. sir, we do not WORSHIP Mary. You obviously know that the first commandment states that you shall not have any other gods before God himself, if we were worshiping Mary, we would be creating the greatest Sin. We simply ask Mary to pray for us, just like you do at your church. Is it not true that you sometimes ask friends or family to pray for you if you are having hard times. that is simply what we are doing with Mary. we honor her, she gave birth to Jesus. we also do not believe that a priest can clean a person of sin. That is common since that a priest can not do that. we go to a priest for confession so that we can find comfort in the priest. A priest helps us pray to god, and helps us RECOGNIZE our sins. he is helping us, NOT "CLEANING" US OF OUR SINS!

Jesus founded our church, we live our church through him. we are not lying. and might i mention that we also are taught to not BASH on other religions, as such you are doing sir. Jesus calls us "his people" I'm sure he is very happy to see how HIS PEOPLE are bashing a church HE CREATED.


oh, and one more comment Pastor Jim,
we ARE saved. every catholic is saved the VERY MINUTE that we walk into that church. the very minute that we give our hearts to God. the VERY MINUTE that we thank god for what he has given us. the VERY MINUTE that we celebrate him. the VERY MINUTE that we hold our comments about other religions to ourselves, and do not post them on the Internet. and the very minute that we honor his mother. WE DO NOT NEED TO PROCLAIM our love for God by telling everyone. It's in our hearts. Our relationships with God are something that we keep between ourselves and God. We love him, we are not going to hell. Our love for him is in our hearts, and our actions. thats where our love lies. and God knows that. You should leave everything that you "think" we're doing, to God. He's the man in charge, not you. i think its HILARIOUS that you feel the need to take it amongst yourself to call out another religion on something you think is wrong. Thats not your place to do so. Leave it to the man in
charge.




(oh ya, and the whole atheist thing, i pretty sure God said to "love everyone", and didn't Jesus proclaim this by talking to people that the normal society wouldn't talk to, such as prostitutes and lepers? and aren't you treating the atheists like most people in the society treated the people Jesus reached his hand out to? so....are you going against God by telling people to not even go near atheists? hm...just somethin to think about)
